La Chaussée is a small romantic 19th century château crowning 3.75-acre grounds where the paths in the undergrowth lead to a charming stream, just 3 km from the medieval city of Chinon. Painter and sculptor Marie-José and her Dutch-born husband have used their wide experience of holidaying in gîtes throughout France to create «model» bedrooms. La Chaussée is an oasis of calm with a beautiful park, a pond, trees that are many centuries old and a modern swimming pool.
It is situated in a lovely countryside. The area is part of the Regional Natural Park, recently created in order to preserve its exceptionally rich flora and fauna.
The WWF has honoured La Chaussée with a «Panda label» because of its rich flora and fauna on and around the estate.
